If you are looking for the perfect tasty treat to tantalize your taste buds, look no further. Dagmar’s mouth watering Beignets are ideal when it comes to serving your friends and family a warm, sweet surprise on these chilly winter mornings.


1 cup of milk

2 eggs

½ stick of butter

2 table spoons of sugar

1 teaspoon of salt

3-4 cups of flour

2 table spoons of dry yeast

Oil for frying

Powdered sugar for dusting

Fruit preserves and a sour cream (optional)

*Makes about 20 beignets


In a large bowl beat eggs. Add sugar, salt and melted butter. Add flour with yeast and keep stirring until the dough becomes soft and elastic. It will be slightly sticky to touch. Set aside in a warm place and let rise for about 40 minutes. Cover the dough with a cloth napkin or a plastic wrap to prevent it from drying. Using a spoon, cut pieces of the dough and deep fry them – either in a deep fryer or a deep frying pan until they are golden brown. Remove them from the pan and place them on a paper towel. Dust them with powdered sugar. You can add your favorite jam or preserves and a dollop of sour cream or whip cream. Enjoy!
