Spring has arrived! We are all stepping out of the winter blues and ready to let the sun bask on our pasty skin once more. Are you welcoming spring back with a few well-chosen accessories this year? Here are my favorite handbag trends for the 2016 Spring season:
Geometric Flare
Look out for the sharp shapes that are storming London’s Spring collections. Anya Hindmarch had some impressive accessories strutting the runways, such as these eye-catching arrow clutches. anyahindmarch.com
Ralph Lauren also showed some bold moves, like this nautical number showcased at the New York Fashion Week. ralphlauren.com
But, if you thought that made a splash, you have to see Christopher Kane’s accessory clutch. His royal blue statement piece reads just like an action bubble in a comic strip. Wham! Can you handle it? christopherkane.com
And, since the 70’s styles have been hitting the fashion world full-force, we can’t ignore this successful mesh of geometric print and vintage inspiration Holly Fulton showed off in London. HollyFulton.com
Rockstar Chic
And, if you are loving the dark and edgy rocker accessories, you will have noticed them throughout the New York show. Even Alexander Wang brought out a hardcore side with a chain handbag that could double as a deterrent to muggers. The designer also had a whole line of shoes that showed off black materials with metal accents and spikes galore. AlexanderWang.com
I’m also loving the rocker vibe and floral texture from Calvin Klein’s collection in this handbag. CalvinKlein.com
A heavy metal chain worthy of a rockstar is paired with a light pop of chic spring aqua on this bag from Proenza Schouler. I’m so in love. ProenzaSchouler.com
And, nothing says, “party like a rockstar” like that little, glamorous handbag for the after party. This adorable wristlet from Balenciaga is the ideal size for your phone, lipstick and anything else you might need for a late night on the town. Balenziaga.com
70s Throwback
You’ve been hearing since last year that the 70s styles are back in high fashion trends. We saw a lot of bags hitting the New York Runways that had throwback trends, like fringe and suede. Check out this cute little number from Chloé that is perfectly fitted for your iPhone6 and featuring a bold flare of fringe. ChloeHandbags
Michael Kors certainly didn’t shy away from the 70s theme in New York, with models flaunting golden hues, hints of fringe and mustard yellow in their handbag accessories. Here is a bohemian suede messenger bag that Michael Kors introduced in New York that shows a clear throwback to the hippie era. MichaelKors.com
I’m not sure this is a bag I’ll be adding to my personal wardrobe, but if you doubted the throwback trend, it doesn’t get much clearer than this. Jeremy Scott took retro inspiration to a whole new level with his vintage TV bag. JeremyScott.com
