When it came to sunglasses for this season, we saw over and over that the underlying theme was, “go big or go home.” Not all sunglasses were actually huge in size, but all were equally big in statement pieces for your wardrobe. Check out a few of our favorite trends from the runways and decide what shape will be the right fit for your face.

Eclectic Theory

Ready for a bit of strange? Acne Studios brought out these unique rocker glasses for a long face with plenty of angles.1after_angels

Moschino took a show to Milan that was full of color and unusual sources of inspiration. From road signs to the Powerpuff Girls, the Moschino collection offered a lot of range. Here are some dramatically unusual shades to pair with this equally dramatic fringe dress from the collection.2_Milan-Fashion-Week-Moschino-Spring-Summer-2016-collections-50

Traditional Spin

Not all glasses were super far fetched for this season. Marni showed off some large round-cat combinations that worked with the 70’s vibe designer Consuelo Castiglioni had on the runways. These glasses work well on a longer or rectangular face. 3_after_faceMarni_spring_summer_2016_collection_Milan_Fashion_Week2

The traditional spin lets people like you and me appreciate new trends without feeling too edgy for situations where that might feel attention-seeking. There are moments for glitz and moments for subtle class. Felder Felder also showed off some major shades with a throwback vibe that works well for rounder features.4_after_featuresFELDER-FELDER_SS16_A-ALLEN-PHOTO-05_426x639_1

And, if you are thinking about something classy for your spring 2016 wardrobe, look no further than these sweet retro frames from Jimmy Choo5_after_chooDOMIS56EPTC_025728_FRONT

Tommy Hilfiger certainly went vintage with tortoise shell frames in throwback shapes. Here’s a hot look from their runway collection for this season.6_after_season

Rounded Rockstar

There was a serious show of circular glasses for this season on the major runways. These glasses work well for oval face shapes. Here is a great example of trendy round shades from Custo Barcelona.7_after_barcelonacusto-barcelona-nyfw-spring-2016-3

Antonio Marras had a unique take on the round glasses. His shades were large and chic, but the inside edge is pointed. This nearly inverse-cat frame is one of my favorites for the season. These work especially well for oval-shaped faces.8_after_oval-shaped_faces_ARC0337

Shade Accessories

But, if you thought the big glasses were enough, then you have missed out on a big opportunity to bling it up! Dolce & Gabbana showed off excessively decorated glasses with attached cherubs, jewels, daisies and more. Jimmy Choo was one to show off some sunglass bling with detachable, clip-on jewel edges.9_VIVYS51EPR7_025728_FRONT

Designers played with all kinds of prints, patterns, shapes and textures throughout their designs for this season. Sunglasses were no different. The opulent spirit really came out through the sunglasses.
