Fashion Week just took place in New York City to highlight the 2017 Spring collections. This much anticipated time in the fashion world did not disappoint as all the top models, celebrities, and fashion superstars showed off their wares in grand style. Although someone who did impact the event in a negative way was of course, Kanye West.

Yeezy Fashion Show

He showcased his fourth “Yeezy” line with a bunch of models having to stand around in some of the hottest temperatures on record for hours on end outside. Some passed out, while others under the watchful gaze of Yeezus himself stood through it as best they could. The fact that they were even treated that way is just plain ridiculous, but let’s chat about the good parts of most of the shows. You can see the entire schedule of designers here in this calendar put out by New York’s Fashion Week Online. Obviously, there are hundreds of designers who exhibited throughout the week, but here are a few standouts.

Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs

Designer darling, Marc Jacobs loaded the catwalk with many famous models who strutted wearing handmade multi-colored dreadlocks. There was a little backlash about those from the social media at large. Nevertheless, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid wore his “pixie chic” styles with ease. Lots of color, patterns, and textures permeated his collection. He pays homage to many different decades with his looks, but they clearly had an 80’s retro feel to the line.

Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren

The location of this show was in front of the Madison Avenue flagship store. The best part was that it didn’t showcase Spring 2017, but rather a second coming of Fall 2016. So right after the show, the clothing was available to purchase. This has been a hotly debated topic throughout the fashion scene of showing clothes that aren’t available for months. Ralph Lauren decided to do something a little different with much hailed success and a vibe that was “cowboy chic” all the way.

Tom Ford

Tom Ford

There wasn’t any more highly anticipated show than Tom Ford’s return to the runway with his Spring 2017 collection for his own line. Everyone who was anyone showed up for Mr. Ford’s show. The palette of the clothes was richly textured with luxe fabrics and his famous penchant for being able to make clothing quite sexy. The usual and much loved fare by Tom Ford’s welcome come back to Fashion Week.

This collab is everywhere. Enough said.

 A Couple To Watch:

Rosie Assoulin

Rosie Assoulin

Although not quite a newbie on the fashion scene, her first collection debuted in 2014 with a resort line, her style is turning heads. With a Lanvin and Oscar de La Renta background as an apprentice, when she finally created her own line it has been to continued success. Her Spring 2017 is nothing short of brilliant, with a dramatic but casual collection of clothing that manages to be fun and flirty with a “country meets city” vibe, as Assoulin describes it. Plus, it could actually be worn by real women who just want to stand out with wearable high fashion.

Monse

Monse

With only a couple of fashion seasons to their credit, this designer duo is making their mark. Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia head this fashion house with clothing that can be described as glamorous work wear. Celebrities like Rachel Weisz and Jessica Chastain have been spotted wearing their fashions on the red carpet. Look at their Spring 2017 line because you won’t be disappointed with their large blocks of color, pinstripes, and sequins with khaki! Oh my! So cool and different.
